Members Honoured

Honourary Past President the late Bernice Harris in 2006 became the recipient of Peterborough's highest award. Bernice's name was entered into the Pathway of Fame for her work in historical literary. Bernice has been with the Society from the very beginning as a member of the committee who published "The Edge of the Shield" and continues her volunteer work every week of as Director of the Smith-Ennismore Historical Society Learning Centre in Bridgenorth, Ontario.

Alan And Una Golding were also selected for their work as "Good Samaritans"

John Harris, our Vice-President and Recordings Director, became the recipient of the Province of Ontario's Lifetime Achievement Award in History for his work to preserve in recordings and computer of our area for over twenty-five years. John joined the very distinct group who has been awarded Lifetime status for their work in this award.

  Smith-Ennismore-Lakefield Reeve Ron Millen presented the award in a council meeting this year. Jeff Leal, Peterborough MPP also made a personal presentation to John at that meeting.
